Original Works: As They Seem

April 1992

Things are never
as they seem.
Good intentions
sight unseen.
Phantom voice
without a face.
Heartbeat quickens
starts to race.

Words can lie,
And faces too.
You'll find out
when she meets you.
Perfect lady,
'till you meet.
Then that changes
short and sweet.

Common interests
but face to face:
You can't stand her.
She's got mace.
Out to dinner
as a test.
Awkward silence.
Make the best.

Forced to dance
all alone.
Then she asks to
take her home.
Could have been
the perfect wife.
Back at her's
you risk your life.

Her old boyfriend
shows up unplanned.
She wants you to
be a man.
Protect her virtues,
but none you see.
He pulls a knife...
It's half-past three.

Most hellish date
that you could dream.
Things are never
as they seem.
Tis a lesson
for all to know:
If it seems too good,
Blind date? Say no.
