Original Works: Love Song

February 1995

I sat right down the other day,
To write you a love song.
The melody came out all right,
The lyrics came out all wong.

Sometimes my lyrics soar like eagles
High up in the sky.
But when I just sat down right now,
I really don't know why...

'Cause instead of soaring like the eagles,
It was more waddling like a puffin.
I'd love to write a love song for you,
But your name don't rhyme with nothin'.

I tried so hard, I almost cried,
No words that I could find.
I sat and stared down at the keys,
'Till I thought that I'd go blind.

Finally, I just gave up,
And I discovered somethin'.
I'd love to write a love song for you,
But your name don't rhyme with nothin'.

When I'm with you, all pain is gone.
There's nothing I can hide.
We walk, we talk, out in the park
'Bout thoughts deep down inside.

You make me feel so warm inside,
Just like an English muffin.
I'd love to write a love song for you,
But your name don't rhyme with nothin'.
