Philosophy: Leaning(?) Tower of Pisa

You would not believe how much trouble I had to go through to get this picture. My friend and I were taking an overnight train to Florence. We arrived very early in the morning, so I convinced her to take the short trip to Pisa so I could get this photograph. I didn't expect to go back there anytime soon, so it was now or never.

I expected to get off the train and see it. I don't know why, but it's not true. "The leaning tower of Pisa" is nowhere near "the bus station of Pisa." We hadn't changed any money yet, and the banks weren't open, so there was no way to get a bus to go there. Time to walk. We tried to get directions from the people at the train station, and they insisted we catch a bus. We tried to explain why we couldn't, but with the language barrier it was no use. Eventually, she broke down and told us walking directions.

When we finally made it there, it was only seven in the morning or so, and the place was deserted. I took the picture as the souvenir people were setting up their stands, walked back to the train station, got on the train, and were back in Florence as everything was starting to open.

For the amount of time we actually spent there, most people would say it wasn't worth it. Some things you just have to do, though.

I got my picture.

I also don't think many people take a picture of the tower from this direction. It's perfectly straight in my picture because the tower can't lean in all directions. I just walked around it until it looked like this. Just goes to show that everything in life can be changed. It's just how you look at it.
